This year is the 25th anniversary of our first project in Sudbury. Our client Dante Germanotta and gave us a plaque for outstanding performance that sits displayed in our showroom today. We converted an old screened porch on a 1700’s original cape on Goodman Hill Road to a year round sunroom. Today it is part of the history of the home. Driving around town we take pleasure in the change we have made to the scenery of the town.
Last year we completed a whole house renovation on Concord Road in Wayland by adding a second story and great room out back as well as a complete gut rehab of the existing space. Photos can be seen in our Gallery.
It was a year we worked on houses built in 1666 to contemporary homes ahead of their time. We worked on our first home with its own Wikipedia page. It is called the Peter Bulkeley-Reuben Brown House in Concord Center. The House has history rooted in the country’s revolution as well as time spent by Ralph Waldo Emerson who rented the upstairs library to escape large numbers of people stopping at his house only to gawk at him. In the 1930’s and 40’s the House was opened to the public as a tavern named the Old Mill Dam.
We completed a period style kitchen and butler’s pantry as well as a third floor bath. We incorporated the old soapstone sink, existing old beams, and matched the old wide plank floors of the existing house. We installed traditional painted inset cabinetry with a combination of marble looking quartz and dark leathered granite counters. Extensive structural repairs were made to both the floor and ceilings as well. As soon as painting is complete we will post pictures.
At the same time we were working on an ultra-contemporary home in Sudbury adding an oversized two car garage to match the home and blend with the natural setting.
We are currently in the midst of another whole house renovation on Concord Road with another whole house renovation on tap for the spring. The current project expands the footprint of the ranch adding a large cathedral ceiling great room and bedroom wings to the home with new everything from heat, air conditioning, insulation, etc.
2017 looks to be our biggest year ever with seven great projects up on board already.
TRENDS:
Quartz companies are introducing more authentic lines and the use of quartz looks to pass granite in our kitchens and baths this year. Honed quartz products are a great addition.
LED lights, both recessed and under cabinet, have become our standards.
Lighting fixtures rather than recessed lighting are trending in our projects.
OUTDOOR SPACES
With addition of the Brown Jordan Outdoor stainless cabinetry line we are now combining with our Sudbury Stone and Tile division to create outdoor living spaces with patios, structures, cabinetry, and appliances to expand our clients’ homes. New Product: Our new cabinet line from Covered Bridge is fast becoming one of our strongest lines. We call it a hybrid because it falls between our semi-custom and custom cabinetry both in price and flexibility. It is built similar to our semi-custom lines being a framed full overlay but allows for custom sizing, designing, and color options. The quality of the cabinetry combined with competing pricing is making it a home run line for us. Yes, Baseball and spring are right around the corner and we can’t wait.
